When “whatever” happens

One irrefutable fact of life in this world is that “whatever” could happen at any moment.  The car might break down leaving you stranded on the way to work.  The phone could ring with joyous news that the cancer is gone.  The phone could ring with heartbreaking news that hope is lost.  You might meet your future husband or wife today.  Your teacher could spring a pop quiz on the class.  The truth is that you don’t know what today or this week has in store for you.  Good will come your way.  Trouble will come your way.  The unexpected may drop by.

A great deal is revealed about us when “whatever” happens.  Do we turn to despair or anger or worry?  Do we respond with faith or patience or peace?  Does pride swell within us or does humility steer our course?  “Whatever” is going to come this week.  How will you respond?  The choice is yours.   I want to respond like this:

“Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.”  -Phil 1:27

Whether you succeed or fail…

Whether your hopes are met or dashed…

Whether things work out or nothing works out…

Whether your path is smooth or rocky…

Whether you experience pain or pleasure…

Whether you have much or have little…

Whether you are appreciated or marginalized…

Whether you are recognized or forgotten…

Whether you are loved or hated…

Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ this week.  Walk with Jesus.  Lean on him.  Honor him.  Make the gospel look good.

  1. Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is fundamental and all. But just imagine if you added
some great graphics or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”!
Your content is excellent but with pics and clips, this blog could undeniably be one of the most
beneficial in its field. Good blog!

    • Thanks Vonnie for the encouragement. I’m still learning my way when it comes to putting a good blog out there. I hope to find more ways to improve the site and provide more content. Video is definitely an option.
